This paper describes the experimental method of finding the damping of an overheadreservoir of 50,000-gallon capacity over a slender shell. The structure is surrounded by two very busyroads. The structure is almost at the edge of these two roads. The excitation of structure is done by thetraffic caused vibration. In first phase of research, the frequency of excitation is calculated experimentallyand also the damping is calculated. In the 2nd phase the model analysis of the structure is performed onsoftware to get the mode at the frequency, which was calculated under experimental programme. Finallythe mode, which is occurring during peak traffic load, is found out and the solution for enhanced safety ofstructure is suggested.
