AIS, short for artificial immune system, is an artificial intelligence approach newly put forward, which has been widely applied to many fields such as data analysis, multi-modal function optimisation, computer security, error detection, etc. Base on the artificial immune algorithm, a novel approach was proposed for elevator traffic dynamic non-continuous zoning during the peak traffic. In this paper, the theory of artificial immune system was briefly described, the dynamic zoning model of elevator traffic was clearly outlined, and the artificial immune algorithm was designed for the dynamic zoning model. The simulation result indicated the feasibility of this algorithm. It has fast convergence and is utilized to quickly search the optimal or sub-optimal zoning of elevator traffic, so it is helpful to improve the real-time capability of processing dynamic zoning due to variable traffic demands.
