The Simulation of Sand-Draining Funnel

摘要

In this paper, based on the experiment research of a sand-draining funnel, the simulations of three-dimensional multiphase flow around the funnel were presented by using the standard k - ε turbulent model and the volume of fluid (VOF) multiphase model. After using several methods and strict numerical experiments, we cannot get a helical flow in the central region of the funnel. That is to say that the standard k - ε turbulent model with VOF multi-phase model cannot solve the problem of strong helical flow, such as sand-draining funnel.
