EB Curable Overprint Release Coatings for Cold Seal Flexible Packaging

EB curable overprint release coatings were developed and tested and with water base cold seal adhesives.The effect of EB coating composition, EB sure dose, and water base cold seal adhesives composition wasstudied. EB overprint release conating/water base cold seal adhesive systems were identified that producedconsistent easy release with no deadening of the adhesive sealing properties. EB overprint release coatinsalso provide excellent appearance and protection of the underlying graphics. These systems represent anattractive alternative to packaging that currently uses solvent based rlease coatings. Even more attractive isthe possibility of using these systems to produce mono-web structures in place of current laminated coldseal packaging.
