Experimental Investigation of the Performance of a Platen-munters Refrigerator Driven by Engine Exhaust Heat

An experimental investigation of a Platen-Munters refrigerator driven by the exhaust heat from a diesel engine is performed. The modification of the heating unit of the Platen-Munters refrigerator has been made. A series of tests have been conducted. The performance of the modified refrigerator is compared with that of original performance of the refrigerator. The experiment results show that the idea of using exhaust heat to operate the Platen-Munter refrigerator is feasible. The performance of the modified refrigerator is as good as the original refrigerator.
