The Dynamic Light Cone Penetration (DCP) has been used in the field of geotechnics applied to transportation engineering, as an alternative for the execution of the CBR tests for expeditious evaluation of airfields. The use of the DCP to other applications on transportation engineering such as road construction and to general geotechnical engineering applications looks as a natural trend to follow. In this study CBR-DCP correlations were evaluated, having in mind the critics formulated to the CBR. Correlation with SPT, density of the soil and water content were also analyzed. The use of the DCP seems to be a tool with the same range of precision of the SPT or the CBR in the depth of application of this test (< 1,50 m), with the great advantage of its easiness of use and low cost.
