Temporal partitioning is a crucial step in the high-level synthesis (HLS) of dynamically reconfigurable systems (DRS). Much of the previous work has focused on temporal partitioning techniques that use simple cost models based solely on singular operations and fixed reconfigurable resource constraints, which often ignore the impact of the neighboring properties of operations in order to reduce the complexity of DRS design space exploration and reconfiguration overhead. In this paper we present a two-phase approach to solve temporal partitioning problems combining estimation of the properties of interconnected operations and quantitatively evaluating the communication cost between temporal partitions.
