A nonlinear two-axis dynamic model of linear synchronous reluctance motor (LSRM) with a magnetically nonlinear and anisotropic iron core model is presented in the paper. The magnetically nonlinear and anisotropic iron core characteristics of the testbed LSRM cannot be described as functions of only one parameter - magnetizing current. Therefore, the iron core model is given by the direct and the quadrature axis flux linkages and their partial derivatives, which are all functions of the direct and the quadrature axis currents. Defined terms represent saturation and cross coupling effects in the explicit way. The comparison of time responses obtained by the dynamic LSRM model with explicitly and implicitly considered cross coupling effects shows that in anisotropic iron core models the cross coupling effects should be considered explicitly. The presented two-axis dynamic LSRM model is verified together with the proposed magnetically nonlinear and anisotropic iron core model through the comparison of calculated and measured time responses.
