THE 'LAW' PROCESS: AN INNOVATIVE WASTE VALORIZATION PROPOSAL COMBINED WITH PRODUCTION

A new combined process for electric power and lightweight aggregates production from mixtures of wastes of different origin has been developed. The process has been tested at pilot scale in an opportune oven able to produce about 100 kg/hour of lightweight ceramic aggregate. This oven minimized the quantities of unburned fractions emitted during the thermal treatment of the organic fractions of appropriate waste mixtures (metallurgic and tannery sludge ) that constitute the only raw material used in the process. With the best lightweight aggregates obtained, some marketable products have been produced (building blocks and plastering blocks) that didn't evidence any particular problem linked to the traditional working used in the building sector.
