摘要

Drilling operation in oilfield leads always to significant quantities of soil cuttings. They are stockpiled in many locations around the world. The pits present a serious environmental problem. These petroleum contaminated soils, if not treated, could be a source of groundwater contamination. Environmental protection has become nowadays a major issue. Hence, the treatment and proper disposal of this solid waste must comply with the requirements. The reuse of these cuttings in civil engineering construction is an attractive option so that the risk of contamination of groundwater by oil or any other toxic elements contained in these cuttings may be minimised. Although these soils are not classified as hazardous waste, they cannot be used as clean materials because they are classified as solid waste. The objective of our study is to stabilise the hazardous waste by solidification using an ordinary hydraulic binder. The second part of the study consists of using the stabilised product in civil engineering materials (mortar and concrete). Additionally, they can be used in concrete blocks or pavement road materials. The treatment sought is that which produces, with very low energy consumption, a strong product meeting the following test specification: (a) high mechanical strength, (b) resistance to different climatic agents, and (c) resistance to chemical and biological attack.
