DuPont Dow Elastomers L.L.C has in recent years developed internal core competencies in the areas of ethylene elastomers process, catalyst, and product technology. Possession of these competencies facilitated the company's rapid expansion of its ethylene-propylene-diene rubber (EPDM) business. In January 2002 DuPont Dow acquired rights to operate the Dow (former Union Carbide) gas phase EPDM manufacturing facility located in Seadrift, TX. Implementation of INSITE~(TM) Technology metallocene catalyst into this novel process technology has opened the window for a new and unique EPDM product family. This paper will review the development of technology necessary for commercial manufacture of a new Nordel~(~R) MG product line.
