Drilling and completing 4 horizontal and one vertical injectionwell during the months from October 2000 to May 2001 costeffectivelydeveloped the Glitne subsea field in the NorwegianContinental Shelf. The operation was completed six weeksahead of budget time and included an extended drillingprogramme of additional 5000 m compared to thedevelopment plan.This paper will focus mainly on the drilling operation andwhy it succeeded. It will also include a brief description of thewhole field development solution. As time is the main costdriver on a subsea operation, beating the time schedule wasthe primary goal for this operation. The drilling programmefocused on a well planned and effective batch drillingoperation for all hole sections, and the extended use of costeffectiverotary steerable assemblies.
