Chemical vapor deposition (CVD) processes have been employed to synthesize hollow BxCyNz nanotubes and nanocablesfilled with metal iron cores. The structure and composition of the products were characterized by scanning electronmicroscopy (SEM), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and electron energy-loss spectroscopy (EELS).The detailed analysis of the chemical composition in the axial and radial direction in an individual nanotube or nanocable, aswell as morphological variation, was presented. The observations indicate the B/N doping to carbon species and completephase separation in B-C-N system. Thus, it is predicted that the precise control of the experimental conditions may eventuallylead to a rational synthesis of various one-dimensional hetero-junction BCN structures.
