摘要

The paper overviews today's transport network architecture presents the next generation optical transport network architecture and services. It describes Intelligent Optical Transport Network architecture aspects and discusses the key components in this network. The next generation optical transport network holds a lot of promise, however the network evolution will take time. The paper also presents some of the challenges and directions for network evolution.
