Because of demand management programs and popularity of personal computers, more and more nonlinear loads are introduced to existing utility systems. Revenue generating meters operating under harmonic filled environments are prone to measurement errors, which have been documented in many reports. Expensive and sophisticated meters are needed to understand the behavior of current. This study examined the current spectrum of simulated residential and commercial loads with similar harmonic distortion level and suggests a "rule of thumb" to determine the peak current when rms currant is known.
