Use of different kinds of linear models in predictive control of distillation columns

摘要

The use of different kinds of linear models in predictive controllers for nonlinear ill-conditioned distillation columns is analyzed in this paper. Modified robust models, linear weighted models and a combination of these two kinds are considered as possible alternatives to the use of a local linear model in a predictive controller. The nonlinearities related to operating at different purities and the uncertainties connected to the presence if input errors are taken into consideration for the comparison of the performance of the different controllers.
