The framework of a MPC supervisory and adaptation system using expert system technology is described in this paper. Instead of focusing on one particular type of controller performance criteria, the proposed framework emphasizes on the integrity of the controllers as a whole. It includes different monitoring tools ot classify the current control scenarios and a heuristic-based adaptation mechanism to "intelligently" respond to the change in environment. The framework, together with a DMC type MPC, has been successfully implemented in G2~(TM) environment. Encouraging results have been observed.
