Thus owing to the carried out research a fundamental probability to manufacture staple fibers with increased strength characteristics in Al_2O_3-ZrO_2 system is confirmed. These fibers can be used at 1500°C. The fibers additionally thermally treated according to a special schedule at 1450°C can be recommended for operations at temperatures up to 1600°C. It is possible to produce from such fibers owing to their high strength flexible heatinsulating products with high service characteristics. In the open joint-stock company "Ukrainian research institute of refractories named after A.S. Berezhnoy" the manufacture of polycrystalline fibers of different compositions is commercially organized, including new types of alumina fibers with improved strength characteristics on the basis of which it became possible to produce flexible products (cardboard, paper, different interlayed materials) for an efficient heatinsulation in a wide range of temperatures.
