Mobile Weighted Voting Scheme for Frequently Disconnected Computers

We propose a new voting scheme for replicated data management in mobile environment. Replicating data at multiple sites could contribute to enhance the availability regarding the distributed data. Data Replication, however, inevitably induces the overhead of maintaining replica consistency which requires more expensive synchronization mechanism, especially in the presence of excessive site failures. In order to alleviate negative impact of excessive site failures in fault-prone mobile environment, we devise a new scheme called mobile quorum consensus (MQC). The main idea behind MQC is that voting weights of mobile hosts are allowed to be dynamically adjusted by mobile weighted voting.
