Image Registration denotes the matching of a given image with images in an image bank. Image Registration is used in several applications such as optical-tracking of mobile objects, scene-matching, fingerprint identification and content-based image retrieval. The process of Image Registration is typically very computationally intensive, which limits its use in real-time applications. In this paper we present a Distributed Image Registration algorithm using the Minimum Absolute Difference with Subtracted Mean (MADSM) Criterion. We also show that Parallel Processing with this algorithm helps us achieve the requisite speedup for real time applications such as On-Line Fingerprint Recognition.
