The Relationship between Human Planner and Information Systems in Transport Planning: In search of a research model

Scheduling or planning is very important in transport companies as it determines the performance of the companies. This article postulates human planners in transport scheduling or planning is assumed to be influenced by departmental climate. The organic climate has an influence on the planners' professional behavior. Planners' behavior, in this article, is classified into four constructs: reactive action, proactive action, involvement, and achievement. Information Systems, which are also considered important for planning, are classified into three categories, namely decision making, innovation and information. Both planners' behavior and the information systems are assumed to lead to effective planning. Certain parameters, such as goal attainment and customer satisfaction are used to measure the planning effectiveness. This article, eventually, offers a research model for further empirical research.
