Fractals are irregularly shaped objects or natural phenomenon. The history of fractals started out in 1975 when mathematician Benoit Mandelbrot, wrote a paper called A Theory of Fractal Set. The idea of fractal geometry began at the end of the nineteenth century, as mathematicians began to look more deeply into Euclidean geometry. To write this paper he collected theories from Mathematicians such as Sierpinski, Hilbert, Cantor, and Von Koch. People mostly thought of it as entertainment, they had no idea of their lasting significance. Benoit Mandelbrot is largely responsible for the present interest on fractals. To begin to understand fractal images, Mandelbrot set strange attractions and other strange beasts in the chaotic field and to understand something about how they were discovered.
