The paper presents the band-pass model of the data transmission system, which represents a complete communication system. The model is specifically developed to study the distortion introduced by the Adaptive Differential Pulse Code Modulation (ADPCM) link on the digital data transmitted at a rate of 9600 bits/sec. The ADPCM link is the 32 kb/sec ITU G726 standard algorithm. The influence of the signal is patterns on the ADPCM tracking performance, is investigated, a back to back test is given, to check the accuracy of the developed system model, and a BER performance over the ADPCM link is presented.
