Periodontal therapy using membrane-based guided bone regeneration (GBR) concept have achieved significant healing effects in clinical trials (1,2). Bone augmentation in localized obny defects such as alveolar boen crest has been successfully performed using GBR technique (3). In this study, porous membranes composed of PLLA-TCP were designed. PLLA-TCP membranes could be molded to provide tailored space according to various shapes of bony defect. In addition, incorporation of osteoinductive agents such as tetracycline or growth factors within the membranes should be advantageous to obtain early healing efficacy. Model dome shaped membranes were investigated for guided bone regeneration with shape restoring ability.
