High performance sintered Nd-Fe-B magnets made by new RIP from SC alloys

In order to solve the problems with oxidation during pressing and to improve the degree of alignment for high performance sintered Nd-Fe-B magnets with a low Nd content, a unique RIP (Rubber Isostatic Pressing) method, which was a combination of normal RIP and TDP (Transversal Die Pressing), was introduced. In an Ar atmosphere, a fine powder was filled in a rubber mold and aligned by a pulsed field. The aligned powder in the rubber mold was then pressed in a die under a static field.
