Crystal structure and magnetic properties of sintered Sm(Co_1-v-x-yFe_vCu_xTi_y)_z with v=0-0.15, x = 0 to 0.14, y = 0 - 0.08, and z = 6.1 - 7.0 were studied after sintering. It is concluded that (1) Small amount of Ti addition stabilizes the 1:7 structure with v = 0 - 0.15; (2) Fe substitution for Co increases remanence, but decrease coercivity; (3) Cu increases coercivity, but decreases remanence; (4) Intrinsic coercivity is sensitive to Ti content. A peak coercivity of over 4 kOe was obtained when y=0.085; (5) Magnetic properties are not very sensitive to z value. The best room temperature intrinsic coercivity obtained in a magnet without Cu was 1.8 kOe. It was 4.5 kOe in a magnet with x = 0.085. It is anticipated that further adjustments of composition and heat treatment will lead to an improvement of magnetic properties of sintered magnets based on SmCo_7 phase.
