In this paper, the technique of finite element analysis to be able to predict the durability and fatigue life of spot weldings in the body structure, is developed. It can lead to the reasonable design in the new car development and reduce the big design modifications after detailed drawings are released. The formula of inner strain in the nugget to represent welding characteristics is derived and can calculate the life cycle on the road profile of actual durability tests. Additionally, the analytic results are well correlated with those of the test.
