It is foreseen that a number of future X-ray space telescopes still maintaining large effective areas will require high angular resolutions (better than tens arcsec). Until now the most used construction method for high-throughput good-imaging X-ray optics has been the replication technique by Nickel electroforming. Although successfully used for the realization of the X-ray optics of Beppo-Sax, JET-X and XMM space missions, this fabrication procedure don't meet the weight constrains currently requested for the future large-size X-ray telescopes.
