Automatic Inclination Controller: A New Inclination Controlling Tool for Rotary Drilling

The working principles, structural features and application ofAutomatic Inclination Controller(short in AIC) designed byProfessor Su Yinao are introduced in this paper. It includes theanalyses of controlling principles of the tool and themechanical properties of the BHA with AIC. As a new type ofadjustable stabilizer, AIC provides one downhole closed-loopsystem which relies solely on hydraulic feedback. The BHAwith AIC reduces the number of round trip and saves drillingcosts. It especially meets the requirements of China’s oilfields.
