The task of tailoring generic systems engineering process models to the particular needs of an organisation is addressed. Current process standards distinguish between different agents involved in a development process, for example, customer, developer and supplier roles. This approach is linked to existing agent-oriented process modelling techniques, leading to an agent-oriented method for tailoring systems engineering processes. Four process representations are developed to support the outline method. Objectives of the work include the embedding of systems engineering activity within the total end-to-end product development process, the organisation of legacy procedural documentation and support for defining information, tool integration and related needs.
