Teams hold the potential for outperforming other types of work structures in complex circumstances, but many fail to deliver on this promise. Such failure can threaten the success of an entire project or program. In their work with teams, many of them complex in structure and makeup, the authors have developed a fairly simple and inexpensive process for forming and aligning teams that can significantly reduce the risk of team failure. While the process is fairly simple, the implementation of that process is not.
