Simplified estimation method for statistical properties of nonstationary random response

This paper deals with a simplified estiamtion method for statistical properties of nonstationary random response. The analytical method of nonstationary response is generally complicated and time consuming. A simplified estimation method using stationary random response is proposed since statistical properties of stationary random response are usually obtained theoretically. Mean square response of nonstationary random response is calculated. It is found that the maximum value of mean square response obtaiend by the proposed method is larger than exact value and that the proposed method gives exact value of integral of mean square response with respect to time from 0 to infinite.
