We have made measurements form a mountaintop field site located at Holme Moss in the southern Pennines (550 m a.s.1.).There are no significant local sources of pollution,however the major urban centres of Manchester,Sheffield and Leeds lie within 50 km.Also,within 100 km are regios containing concentrations of large,fossil fuel burning power plants in the Trent valley and in Deeside.
