"White-light" laser cooling is proposed as a powerful tool when large velocity capture range and high cooling rate are demanded at the same time to fight the heating processes and to speed up the neutral atom trap loading. The first results obtained by cooling Li ions confined in a storage ring are presented together with the preliminary report of a Na MOT.
