摘要

This paper discusses the possibility of developing high power tunable lasers in the near infrared range, by copper vapor laser pumping of Titanium Sapphire (Al_2O_3:Ti~(3+)) crystals, and presents preliminary experimental results. The pumping efficiency of 17 -22% was observed. The average laser power at 900 nm was measured to be more than 1 W.
