This paper presents an innovative electromagnetic induction-heated fluid heating appliance using voltage-fed quasi-resonant zero voltage soft switching (ZVS)-PWM high frequency inverter, which operates under the variable power constant frequency (VPCF) regulation strategy. This appliance includes various features as compared with conventional gas contribution type and sheathed heater type fluid heating; rapid heating, clean heating, high efficiency and so on. This appliance is effectively applied as a hot water producer, superheated steam generator and metal catalyst heating for exhaust gas cleaning in engines. In this paper, its operating principle is illustrated and evaluated by computer simulations and experimental results of 25 kHz-4.0 kW set up.
