Space Technology Research Vehicles - A Ground Segment and Operations

The Space Technology Research Vehicles (STRV) la&b were controlled using the first European implementation of the international CCSDS packet TT&C standards. Because it was a first of type, using the products and technologies available at the time, the ground segment design had some limitations. Although it fulfilled all the requirements for mission operations as envisaged at the time of its design, experience in the two years of spacecraft operations highlighted a number of changes that would be required to produce a system capable of supporting a future mission.
