Summary form only given. An intelligent CAD system based onparallel processing technique is described. Its hardware is an MIMDparallel system consisting of a microcomputer and multi-transputers, andthe software is developed with the mixture of C language and Occamlanguage. The CAD system adopts a feature representation scheme so as tosupport integrated manufacturing. A new feature model is introduced as apair of a product model to improve design representation in acomputer-integrated manufacturing environment. The feature model is asurface based design representation scheme, and has a general modelingspace with a limited number of features. The system described has strongcapacity for numerical computation, graphics processing and intelligentinference that ordinary sequential CAD system on microcomputers or evenworkstations cannot possess. However, we find that the development ofits software is much more difficult than sequential ones due tocurrently lacking of parallel procedures that can be directly used, andsome aspects need to be further studied and improved
