The paper presents a wavelet transform approach to the detection of the break point of the transient signals in the electrical circuit. Detection of this point is not a straightforward procedure if the changes occurring in the circuit are small and lead to hardly noticeable changes in the transient signals. The wavelet transform possessing good localization features in both time and frequency offers excellent ability to localize such point of change. The paper will develop this direction of research investigating wavelet bases and their efficiency in application for the detection of discontinuity of the signals in the transient state. The results of numerical experiments concerning the application of wavelets to the detection of the breaking point in the electrical circuits are presented and discussed in the paper.
