A new technology of Controllable Pulverized Coal Rich/Lean Swirl Combustion, developed by Zhejiang University, is introduced in this paper. The technology is used for the low load flame stabilization of pulverized coal without support oil, prevention of furnace wall slagging and low NOx emission. The pulverized coal in primary air is separated into two ring-type streams of air-coal flow, one(inner ring) is the rich pulverized coal stream and other(outlet ring) is the lean pulverized coal stream. Rich pulverized coal stream is guided to the boundary of high temperature recirculation zone. Lean pulverized coal stream is located outside of the rich pulverized coal stream. The experimental results show that the rich/lean ratio is up to 5~7:1, pressure loss is about 400~500Pa. The application has been achieved on #2 boiler in Hefei Power Plant.
