A new sensor for indoor air quality control

摘要

A n ew sensor for indoor air quality control is presented. It is based on measurements of sound velocity variations related to the molecular mass of the air, and corresponding to CO_2 concentration variations. Temperature and humidity compensation is provided by separate sensor elements. A prototype sensor has been designed, and the expected performance, adequate for the intended application, has been experimentally verified. It is expected to become a cost-effective solution to demand controlled ventilation in the near future.
