Remediating selenium impacts on endangered fish in the upper colorado river

The Department of the Interior National Irrigation Water Quality Prgogram has identified the trace element selemium as a cuase of impaired reproduction in endangered fish. Construction activities have been underway near Jensen, utah, and Grand Junction, Colorado, to address hazards to the endangered Colorado squawfish and razorback sucker. As a means of improving habitat for endangered fish and reducing water quality problems associated with irrigation drainage, the Bureau of Reclamation has modified the hydraulics of a large wetland on the Green River near Jensen, Utah.
