摘要

This paper presents theoretical and lagorithmic tools for the incorporation of reliability and maintainabilit criteria in chemical process design and operation under uncertainty. For processes operating in the presence of uncetainty, a maintenance optimization algorithm is developed, through which the impact of uncetainty on the optimal maintenance policy is clearly shown and quantified. The interactions of design and maintenance are also presented, comparing he results obtained from a sequential and a simultaneous strategy for determining the optimal process design and maintenance policy.
