Risk analysis has gained considerable a cceptance in some industries. Still, the full potential benefits remain to be released. The author discusses some of the obstacles that prevent us from obtaining full advantage of this potential. Our ability to communicate on the issue of risk in meaningful way is one such hindrance. of particular importance is the communication between the safety professional and the other engineering disciplines. This is so simply because the most effective risk reducing means are at the disposal of disciplines and individuals outside the safety discipline.
