Machine is commonly regarded as complex technical object, which performs some main functions through simpler ones of its components. It implies construction and functional sturcture of the machine. Internal relations among structural attributes as well as relations among components of each structure are usually difficult to describe in terms of standard reliability theory. Operation process of real repairable object is described by more than two states, working and in service, what corresponds to good and failed states. Process is also often disturbed by random event external to the system. Machine assessment of the object described in this way is difficult using analytical methods and computer simulation seems to be the most effective tool. In the paper, problems dealing with machine modelling and assessment are discussed.
