Heat treatment in magnetic field affects the growth of microstructureal phases responsible for the development of magnetic properties.Heat treatment controls the amount and nature of phases formed while magnetic field controls their growth in a particular crystallographic direction.Present study is an attempt to investigate the effect of magnetic field and its intensity on the development of permament magnetic properties during heat treatment in fe-Cr-Co alloys.The results showed that magnetic properties are sensitive to heat treatment temeprature.The alloy was single phase bcc #alpha# at sohition annealing temperature.In the as quenched state both coercivity and remanence are very low.Annealing at lower temepratures in magnetic field followed by step ageing greatly enhance the subsequent magnetic properties.The kinetics of decomposition are also sensitive to the annealing temepratures.The results obained in present study are crucial and may play a vital role in development of Fe-Cr-Co permanent magnets.
