1Cr18Ni9Ti stainless steel (SS) was duplex treated by plasma nitriding and PECVD TiN.The structure and porperties of the treated layer were analysed.It is shown that the bonding strength between the TiN films and the nitrided case si excellent,and the wear resistance of the duplex treated layer is significantly improved compared with athat of the un-treated SS.The duplex-treated layer shows that its corrosion resistance in 0.5M H_2SO_4 solution is not only much superior to that of hte nitrided case but even better than the SS substrate in transpassive region.
