A theoretical model of a hippocampal CAl neuron is proposed to investigate synaptic modification, especially long-term potentiation (LTP), induced by three different time-structured stimuli (regular, Markov, and chaotic), The experimental results are explained by taking into account both N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) and non-NMDA receptors, followed by a discussion of the enhancement of LTP induced by chaotic stimuli.
