摘要

Microspheres can be used to protect active ingredient from bhostile environment and to control release rate. Several methods are available for the preparation of microspheres and some of them are used commercially. Recently, o/w solvent evaporation method was used to prepare floating microspheres to extend residence time in GI tract using acrylic resin. However, the method can not be used for water-soluble drug since large portion of the drug partition into outer water phase, leading to extremely low loading efficiency. In this study, to improve the loading efficiency of water-soluble drug, a novel w/o/o double-emulsion solvent evaporation method was used for the preparation of acrylic microspheres. The effects of various parameters on the release profile and characteristics of the microspheres were also investigated.
