The DUROS~(TM) Leuprolide Implant is an advanced osmotic delivery system that delivers leuprolide (acetate) for 1 year, and is being investigated for the passiative treatment of advanced prostate cancer. Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in American men. Androgen deprivation is the standard treatment for the advanced stage of this disease and can be achieved by orchietomy or continuous administration of a GnRH agonist, such as leuprolide.
